Beauty from the Neck Up | Chin Augmentation and Lip Augmentation

In our last post on beauty from the neck up, we focused on neck lifts and other treatments that can contribute to a long, slender neckline and decollate. Today, we’re working our way up to the face and how chin augmentation and lip augmentation can contribute to a youthful look.

How to Achieve a Well-Defined Chin With Chin Augmentation

Chins can either become saggy (in the case of weight gain) or gaunt (in the case of weight loss). Since we lose bone mass as we age, the jawline can become softer and less pronounced over time. A receding chin has repercussions for the rest of the face as well, making the nose and upper teeth appear more prominent and the neck appear shorter.

For this reason, chin augmentation is the fastest growing cosmetic enhancement (above even breast augmentation and injectables). By sculpting or lengthening the chin with implants, chin augmentation can balance the appearance of the nose and cheeks as well as elongate the appearance of the neck for a strong, youthful, and feminine jawline.

But chin augmentation isn’t just for women. A growing population of men have taken to getting a jaw makeover—choosing a masculine, chiseled chin and strong jawline that might win over their shareholders in the next board meeting. One study goes so far as to suggest that a strong jawline contributes to career success. Of all the chief executives at the top 50 Fortune 500 companies, 90% were found to have prominent chins (including the women).

How to Achieve Full, Luscious Lips with Lip Augmentation

Similarly, the lips flatten and thin as we age, which can result in a permanent frown-like appearance or top and bottom lips that appear uneven. Lip augmentation plumps the lips for a fuller, rounder, and more balanced appearance. There are multiple methods of lip augmentation.

Restylane is a clear gel that is injected into or just under the skin in small amounts to restore volume and structure. This method utilizes hyaluronic acid, which the body also produces naturally. It is a non-permanent, non-surgical lip augmentation method that lasts up to twelve months.

There are also semi-permanent methods that include injecting fat from the body into the lips, a dermal fat graft which uses fat attached to deep layers of the skin, or a V-Y lip advancement, which utilizes small incisions to expand the lips and create fullness.
