Villano | MD Now Offers NovaThreads in Bend
We are thrilled to debut our newest treatment for lifting the neck and jawline. Without using surgery, NovaThreads can lift the appearance of sagging skin while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Though botox and fillers have been successful at achieving this effect on the forehead and cheeks, this procedure has been effective at treating the lower face, neck, and décolleté. We are proud to be one of the first practices to offer NovaThreads in Bend.
Here’s What You Need to Know About NovaThreads in Bend:
What is NovaThreads?
You may have heard the term “selective inflammatory response.” This is the medical principle behind microneedling, chemical peels, and fractional lasers. By creating small lesions in the skin, the body produces more collagen to heal itself. This results in smooth, beautiful skin that appears youthfully taut and supple. NovaThreads provides similar results for sagging skin beneath the chin and neck.
How Does NovaThreads Work?
NovaThreads are absorbable sutures that are inserted into the skin using a hypodermic needle. Known as PDO, these threads are the same kind of sutures commonly used by doctors during surgery. NovaThreads works by inserting these threads beneath the surface of the skin to promote the selective inflammatory response. The body responds by rushing collagen to the area while providing a lifted and smoother appearance. After four to six months, the sutures are fully absorbed into your skin and do not leave behind any scar tissue.
How are NovaThreads Inserted?
Physicians inject NovaThreads by inserting a needle preloaded with PDO threads into the skin. The needle is then removed, and the threads remain in place. There are two primary methods of insertion: The first is known as NovaMesh. This involves inserting the threads both horizontally and vertically beneath your skin forming an interwoven hashtag pattern. This promotes collagen production throughout the area while tightening the skin under which it was placed.
The second and more drastic method is known as NovaLyft. This involves using barbed sutures that can grip or pull the skin once injected. After insertion, your physician can pull the threads upward, lifting the sagging skin upward as they do so. As with the first method, the sutures promote healing beneath the skin and are eventually fully absorbed by your body.
